SPEAK UP!

TRANSFORMASI NASIONAL 2050

In 2017, Malaysians celebrate 60 years as an independent nation. From our humble and uncertain beginnings, we have grown and evolved significantly into a modern economy and society. Beginning with the era of the New Economic Policy (1971-1990), we stepped into the 2020 era (1991-2020). Now, we have to be ready to face the next 30 years.

‘Speak Up!’ is an event in which Malaysians shall gather to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas among their colleagues regarding on the recent draft made by the government; National Transformation 2050 or rather known as TN50.

‘Transformasi Nasional 2050’ or TN50 is an initiative to plan for the future of Malaysia in the period 2020 to 2050. From the vision of becoming a developed nation, we should strive to be amongst the top countries in the world in economic development, citizen well-being and innovation.

Instead of having discussion based on professional opinion, this event would be the best platform for citizens especially students to share their words of wisdom and ideas regarding on TN50. Students are welcome to express their personal opinion on certain issues from their own perspectives.

Inspired by the concept of “TED Talk”, this events provides the opportunity for ambitious speakers to convey their views on a spectrum of topics that they are interested in, ranging from personal dilemmas to global pandemics that concerns the advancement of our nation. Despite the freedom in choosing relevant topics, each talk session must be directed towards one of these specific themes; inspiring others, creating awareness, or sharing knowledge. Discussing about TN50 with these themes integrated into each speech may open up audiences’ mind, thus giving them more insight on how to better our nation from its root up to the top in near future.

Apart from maintaining the academic nature of every speech, speakers are obliged to choose from the three themes as each represents the essential elements that every individual needs. Being young and bold, fate puts the ups and downs in every undergrad. To those who are currently in their downs, this event wishes to provide some inspiration. While those in their glory, should be reminded of the bumpy journey that might await them. To those who are indifferent in between both situations, this event will simply make their moments more beneficial.

Setting aside formality, this event wishes to maintain the friendly bonding between speakers and audiences as well as to engage with each other in professional manners. After all, the main idea is to allow for the exchange of ideas between young minds in a healthy discussion regarding on TN50.
