THE AMAZING RACE 2016 - Teams@WORK

The Amazing Race is an annual game event organized by UMNO Club of Australia (UCA) Adelaide in which several teams race throughout a specific area or coarse by completing the tasks given at several checkpoints. UCA Adelaide is planning to conduct the same event this year as the number of participation shows an increament from year to year.
As for last year, several places were chosen as the checkpoints including Glenelg Beach, the State Library, River Torrens and the Botanical Garden. For this year, the checkpoints and the tasks given would be much more challenging. But fret not, we are pretty sure that you will have so much fun!
Our objectives of managing this event are to foster the unity, sportsmanship and the relationship among Malaysians regardless of races, religions and backgrounds. Not just that, we also create this event to aid new students to familiarise themselves around Adelaide.
The participation of this game is opened to all Malaysians (Bumiputra and Non-Bumiputra) who live in South Australia. Registration fee per group is required for all participating groups. The prizes for the top three places would be medals and cash. Refreshments will be provided for all participants, volunteers and committee.
As for this year's The Amazing Race, several locations are picked as our checkpoints such as UniSA City West, Victoria Square, Botanical Park, River Torrens, Elder Park and with the furthest one which was Bonython Park.
12 groups participated for this race. The event started at 9.00 am sharp with all the groups started to register. Once registered, they have been provided with some light breakfast by the committees. At 9.30 am, Siti Nur Atiqah, the project director started to give a briefing of the race. 30 minutes later, all the groups are released.
It took 3 hours and a half for the first group to arrive at Barr Smith Lawn. 30 minutes later, the second group arrived followed by the third a few minutes later. 1 group pulled off from the race during the last hour of the race. At 3.00 pm, all the groups are given pre-packed lunch. Around 3.30 pm, the closing ceremony commenced.
The medals and prizes are given to the winners by Mr. Shahrezan, a JPA officer. The committees wrapped up the event at 5.00 pm.
It was such a successful event as all the participants enjoyed themselves and no major errors such as injuries occured during the event. Thanks to everyone involved.
THE AD HOC COMMITTEE
For The Amazing Race this year, we are introducing a new implementation method of organising this event. Instead of promoting people to become volunteers, we are inviting all of you guys to be part of the committee. Hence, the Ad Hoc Committee will be formed.
This is an opportunity for Malaysian students of South Australia to gain experiences on how to organise an event. You will literally be a part of the committee. Join the meetings, create formal letters, handle the participants, brainstorm ideas and many more. All in all, find the leadership in you by joining the committee and build up your resume. And one more thing, certificates will be provided.
Unfortunately, we are sorry to tell you guys that the application period is over and we have closed the application form. Congratulations for those chosen to be in the committtee. For those who did not make it, no worries as we have more events coming your way this year. We surely need your help in future!
So stay in touch and follow us on all of our social media streams! See ya!
THE THEME: Teams@WORK
The amazing race with this year's theme "Teams@work" is definetly a game changer. Our main goal in organizing the race is to build up team-building skills.
This helps to improve productivity and motivation by exposing the students with these activities. It will help them break down personal barriers, eliminate distractions, and have fun. Benefits of joining the amazing race is to help in boosting students confident in leadership and working in teams to help them prepare for the future, which are very significant that many corporations have incorporated teambuilding strategies into their standard training curriculum.
We are trying to make this as a stepping stone for students to be creative and to always think outside of the box.
